Author Mark Billingham’s website

If you are into crime fiction you need to join the Billingham Talk Zone.

Mark Billingham’s website is an excellent example of how an author could set up a website.  For anyone interested in crime fiction the site’s forum, the Billingham Talk Zone, BTZ, has an interesting, intelligent group of people discussing the whole range of crime and thriller novels.  

In addition the forum has a monthly book club, where one of the members selects, not surprisingly, a crime book to get, as Mark Billingham puts it, ‘The Richard and Judy‘ treatment.   Well with quite a bit more finesse.  

I found the site when checking out the author Harlan Coben. I had just read, and was very disappointed by the novel, The Final Detail, which is part of the Myron Bolitar series. I felt this book was really inferior to the stand alone novel, Tell No One“. So I was pleased to read that many of BTZ subscribers agreed with this view.

This well designed site also contains details of Mark Billingham’s books, his personal appearances, his many activities, some very useful links and the forum also contains a section for budding crime writers.

Mark Billingham was an actor and is an occasional standup. He moved into TV screenwriting which led to the writing of the novel Sleepyhead to great success. It introduces the London based Detective Inspector, DI, Tom Thorne.

The book has led to a very successful series around the world. The books are in the process of being turned into a TV series.
